More like Roy who didn't think he would play a part on this team.

Touche...

However Sakic did also miss on Roy and his ability to judge talent

nope,  but because how many times here did we see issues with Roy playing the "loyal" players instead of the best ones?

The way Bourque has been playing (especially on the PK), anybody.

It really has nothing to do with him. When we were the best in the league on the PK, Bourque was there. And when we've been terrible on the PK, Bourque has been there. And lately, without Bourque, we've sucked on the PK. I think it has more to do with the special teams coach then the players. It's not just Bourque causing the PK to be bad, it's the whole system breaking down that needs to get fixed. Last night was the first time in a long time where we actually did better.

great job at looking at the big picture - alot of fans stay very basic and don't lookt at what players are doing/not doing away from the puck - thats where you can tell if a player is really "bad" or "good" for a team

Failing to clear the puck multiple times in multiple games only to see the other team score of it because you are too tired is good?

Never said it was - but why is he to tired? is it because he's stuck out there because bad clearings of other players?  Are they not excuting away from the puck as well to give him options to get rid of the puck rather then trying to clear through someone?   Is he supporting the others when they have it to give lanes to clear the puck? Is the coach putting him out tired because the other 2 or 3 on his unit have sat while he was at the tail of a shift when the penalty was called?  Or is he being overly aggressive in his quad?  Is he having to cover a larger Quad on the PK because the rest of his unit is over agressive pulling the box towards their quad?  ect ect.   Its all things that those who have played the game at anything over a rec league can see, but for your average fan is very hard as they just don't have the "playing IQ"

Well one could look at Butcher... and how badly Skaic missed on him.

I have to agree with this. Roy had other visions for this team and Butcher wasn't part of it. Radulov was his goal.

And to be fair, Butcher is having a bit of a sophomore slump this year.  His 5-on-5 time on ice has been decreasing lately because he's been struggling defensive.  His point production, which was what got him into that line-up, has dropped to (almost) half of what it was last year.

Give me "not-enough-offense" Girard any day of the week over Butcher!!

If you had seen the games, it was Bourque who couldn't clear the pucks.

Very true,  although while his offense has struggled,  from the 10ish games (parts of) that i've seen of him this year,  his defensive mindset and ability has grown tremendously.

I have seen much more of late- and a few in person -  his unit is not playing well at all - and there have been times he was not given any options was screwed - a few other, but the minority of them - he's tried to do to much.  But that is stuff you wouldn't nessicarly see on a TV screen, or notice if you ahvent played
